reyie.com was a project that had in mind gathering chat log data from osu! game and processing it to display statistics concerning that data. It also hosted some of the promotional flash animations from various Touhou artists.
The website went through many iterations, first major paradigm shift was porting it from pure PHP to Django. Later on, generation engine for statistics got massive bump in performance and the sites for the statistics stopped being generated to HTML files but rather to JSONs.
what were the reasons behind shutting down
There were a few reasons behind it:
- no time to maintain the site
- generation engine would have to be improved - currently it's very wasteful
- the lack of disk space on the server - no spare budget to expand it
